Our Origin Story

People Over Profit.

The Philly Gas Exchange was born out of frustration. We are a collective of individuals—engineers, brewers, fabricators, and researchers—with over 20 years of combined experience as industrial gas users. We identified a systemic failure in the Philadelphia market and came together to fix it.

The Problem

For decades, the regional gas market has been strangled by massive corporations that prioritize their own administrative overhead and shareholder dividends over the customers they serve.

Our Solution

We built the Exchange to democratize access. We believe that if you own a tank, you should be able to fill it. If you need a specialty gas, you should be able to find it without navigating a corporate bureaucracy.

First and foremost, we are an information hub. We provide the transparent data users need to make informed decisions. When possible, we work directly with local, independent suppliers to promote their businesses and keep regional dollars within the Philadelphia economy.
